Science

Today me and Leon we stared with a spoon of Sodium Polyacrylate and then we put 33 spoons of water in it and  and the cup was fall then we added sodium and it changed in to liquid I had so much fun and we are doing this for a fun day.  They make baby nappies with this stuff and it will dissolve water.

  1. Kia ora Lincoln,
Wow, it sounds like you and Leon had a very fun and exciting day experimenting with science!
Sodium polyacrylate seems to be a very interesting ingredient with some unusual qualities. You mentioned how one spoonful of sodium polyacrylate absorbed 33 spoonfuls of water, which is quite an astonishing amount of water to absorb!
Did you count each spoonful of water as you added it?
What happened to the sodium polyacrylate as the water was added?
It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know!
You mentioned in your blogpost that once you added sodium to the mixture it changed back to water.
How long did this reaction take to occur?
How much sodium did you need to add to create this result?
Did you have a hypothesis (an idea or assumption as to what you think may happen) before you added the sodium?
I really like the photo that you included on your blogpost, and I am extremely impressed by how focused the two of you were whilst partaking in this experiment.
Keep blogging Lincoln, you’re doing an amazing job!
    Nga mihi
